You may have heard the term health coach before, if not however, you’re not alone. I, myself, was not familiar with what a health coach was, until I started researching how I could turn my passion for nutrition and healthy living into a side project to help others.
So what exactly is a health coach?
A health coach is someone who specializes in wellness practices; a mentor who can help others to make healthier lifestyle choices through not only dietary but behavioral adjustments.
At the end of the day, there isn’t a one size fits all approach to one’s health and well-being. We’re all unique and what might work for one person isn’t necessarily what will work for another. This is why so many fad diets fail and why so many of us find ourselves in what feels like a never ending cycle of ‘being good’ and ‘cheat days’.
There are also numerous factors outside of just diet that can effect your health. Exercise, career, finances and relationships, are all huge components that generally get overlooked.
By taking a holistic approach, health coaches can help individuals identify areas of improvement and gain clarity on personal goals in a supplementary way to your traditional healthcare professionals (i.e. doctors, therapists, nutritionists, dietitians, etc).
While many health coaches take on clients either 1-1 or in a group setting, I’ll be focusing my efforts on sharing what I learned through this space. Having studied over 100 dietary theories, food will be a big component of what I share here, but also look out for self-care and personal growth tips.
I’d also love to cover any specific questions or topics you’re interested in learning more about, so feel free to contact me via comments, Instagram, Facebook or my contact page!
